For decades, debate has raged over whether God created the world in six days or whether it came into being independently over the course of billions of years. The assumption in these debates is usually that the claims of religion and of science are irreconcilable. But there is a third viewpoint that is rarely considered- the idea that while the Bible certainly teaches that God created the world, it gives no information about exactly how He did it, because the origin stories in the Book of Genesis were never intended to be read as either science or literal history. But they do have important lessons to teach us today. Father Lawrence Farley takes us through the initial chapters of Genesis verse by verse, bringing out the spiritual truths that lie hidden from modern minds in this ancient text.
