After the loss of my father, I heard this cd playing in the bookstore at Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City. I think I snatched the last one, and listened to it almost non-stop for many, many months. I still play it and pray with it several times throughout the year, plus any time I light a candle for the loss of someone, or even when I drive to visit my father's grave, now five years later. This cd was by far the most comforting collection I heard in that otherwise comfortless time. The music invites the listener to contemplate the profound texts of our rich funeral prayers and reflections; its settings balance a combination of sobriety and hope, and the exquisite, sensitive rendering ministers to the aching soul.
