Why “365 Mornings with Mother Siluana”? Why did we choose this title? Mother Siluana loved the morning hours. When I met her in the summer of 2001, one of the first things she talked to me about was the joy of a morning spent with the Lord — the early morning, when the sun had not risen yet, when the little birds had started their own Matins. She experienced this early awakening and this time spent with the Lord as a way of being alive. She experienced the gift of life with gratitude. Through prayer, we show our longing for Him. Through silence, we listen to His voice. And once we start our day this way, our soul is ready to take its nourishment for the whole day ahead. The words of Mother Siluana can be such nourishment—the spiritual lunchbox for our entire day. They are words that stem from prayer, words that she opened herself to by acknowledging His will without resistance and by living everything in His presence, with Him. I think Mother Siluana will have the most suitable words for us every day. Or maybe she will anticipate something that will happen that day. But she will always bring us the spiritual solution for the trials of the day. May the Lord, through His love and the words of Mother Siluana, be our help, strength, support, and comfort in all our days and all our life.
