The St. Tatiana cross design is taken from a 17th or 18th century Old Believer style cross engraved with the Russian St. Andrew cross. The Slavonic abbreviation IC XC is for Jesus Christ and the Slavonic abbreviation underneath the cross bar is for Son of God. The skull of Adam is found at the base of the cross, remembering the tradition that the cross of Christ was planted above the burial place of Adam’s skull. The decorative motif on the perimeter represents the wings of the Seraphim. On the reverse is found the Slavonic beginning of Psalm 67, “Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered and let them that hate Him flee from before His face”.
