This is my fourth prayer book, and each one has pros and cons, but this prayer book is a wonderful addition.I recommend it for two reasons: (1) it include several long-form prayers for when you want to expand on your prayer rule, and (2) it includes tons of the Troparia and Kontakia for the feasts of the Church. I honestly go back and forth between whether I prefer modern or traditional English, but this prayer book’s traditional English is fantastic in that it’s very smooth, poetic, and easy to understand for someone who isn’t well-versed in such. I also love how this book always references the Saint who wrote the prayer or other source, if known.
The caveat is that I wouldn’t recommend this book as the primary book for your prayer rule, unless you have no qualms of conscience in picking and choosing particular prayers out of a stock. If you’re like me and are easily troubled by the choice to skip prayers in a set, then you probably should model your prayer rule off of a shorter, simpler set of prayers.
