The living tradition of the Jesus Prayer in Eastern Orthodoxy follows an unbroken line to the sixth-century Egyptian desert. Dr Rossi remains faithful to this tradition in explaining the prayer which, when repeated ceaselessly in a gentle and loving manner, grandually transforms the heart "from stone to flesh." And as ths prayer of the heart continues and strengthens, an intimate dialogue commences as a song of love between Christ and the soul.
Dr Albert Rossi is retired Associate Professor of Psychology at Pace University, a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York, teaches courses in pastoral theology at St Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, and is a popluar speaker and retreat leader.
